Didier Drogba will go into Chelsea history as the player that saved Chelsea from the jaws of defeat as he stars to rescue the Pensioners in the face of defeat. He then went on to score the final penalty kick to help Chelsea lift the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.

With the match poised to end goalless,Thomas Muller's header seemed to have sealed victory for the home team but Chelsea's old guard rallied on for a late resurgence with the introduction of Fernando Torres and as Bayern Munich conceded two corners in quick succession with Drogba scoring the second with a thumping header into the top corner.

This was a victory in the mould of Chelsea's semi-final win against Barcelona, built on resilience, discipline, defensive organisation and nerve at the crucial times and done without the suspended Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, Ramires and Raul Meireles.
Abramovich will leave the big decisions for another day, but this was a night he and his club have desired since he walked into Stamford Bridge nine years ago - and achieved with an interim manager he had to appoint after sacking his personal choice, Andre Villas-Boas.
Congratulations Chelsea and Abramovich. Congratulations to the Africans in the team, especially Mikel Obi who did really well.
I am an Arsenal fan and would have loved to see Bayern win this but this match has taught me one of life's basic lesson. Destiny will always swing in our way but will we be ready to grab onto it with all we have got. Chelsea's persistence has paid off after eight years and how i hope the Arsenal board can learn from this.
