It was a day of good music as One Mic Naija, a live musical showcase, thrilled audience on the 26th of August at GET Arena, Lagos in their August Break edition hosted by Kunle Bello and Yemi Alade coming in for Kel as a new co-host.
“It didn’t look like she was a first time host, she was cool on the mic and seemed comfortable”, General Pypecommented on co-host Yemi Alade, “the show was beautiful, the crowd, the ambience, in one word, skibborated!” he added.
It was a mix of different genres as Bibi, Christine, Ese Peters, Flowssick, JPX and ‘Rise of the Real’ runner-up Victor performed on the night, backed by the One Mic Band.
“The One Mic Band were fantastic. It is not easy to interpret sound from how it was recorded and present live. They were simply amazing”, Victor was full of praise after his performance.
The open mic competition featured different acts from rappers to singers to bars-droppers and a comedian, showcasing their unique talents, all vying for the twenty five thousand naira grand prize.
“I actually didn’t plan for it. It was just a time (for me) to listen to good music and have fun but coming out winning, I bless God”, ToppyBanks, who sang D’banj’s ‘Fall in love’, said after emerging as the overall winner of the open mic competition.
A lot of music lovers and celebrities from the entertainment industry like Dipp, Tee A, Overdose, General Pype etc. were on hand to witness the bi-monthly event and also support the performing artistes.
The audience didn’t leave with only the memory of good music but also a gift pack from the sponsors, artiste promotional Cd’s, One Mic Naija Cd’s and more.
The next One Mic Naija will take place at Brown’s Café, GRA Ikeja on the 28th of October and it promises to be bigger and better.
