A good song can never be ignored. At least that's what I say, and there have been so many brilliant songs this year. Sifting through the pile to find one that seems a bit more personal can be a big task.

What is available is a situation where good music requires a lot to stand out. Talent is in abundance and social media makes good material easily accessible.

DJ Klem presents one of such talents, no doubt an undeniable one; Scarlet, shows a glimpse of what to expect on this song. Its not your typical Nigerian type of song.

In a lot of ways Pop/Alternative Rock/RnB are all bubbling under the surface in this track and it's certainly impossible to ignore the reference to Cold Play as well(what would we do without cold play).

With a few listens the track sticks, the chorus and the bridge come together almost without you noticing, until you hear the familiar "lights will guide you home..". Its not Scarlet's best song to show off her vocal skills, its more of a relaxed track. I can almost imagine her and Klem (they co-wrote the song) discussing and penning the lyrics over hobnobs and Chapman (what?! I'm hungry na).

There's a good synergy here, one a producer and an artist require before good, natural and effortless music can be created.

"Relax and just sing.." is what I'd imagine would have been said before Scarlet stepped into the booth. No risk was taken, it was just a simple desire to speak from the heart, no audience in mind.
The piano in the background urges the vocals with subtle keys, other instruments follow. The vocals like I said earlier aren't fully exercised but its still good work.

Don't know what plans Scarlet has but I'd encourage her to stick around a bit longer. The scene could use both her beautiful face and voice.

Meanwhile, anyone got her number?

I encourage you all to go give it a good listen and add it to your play list, especially when you're driving to the beach or feel like intentionally missing 'The Lover'.

Big ups to DJ Klem once again(yes, I'm a famzer).

Be safe guys.
