Soul singer and the only winner of West Africa Idol, Timi Dakolo narrowly escaped death today. According to THE NET "Dakolo and his wife attended the burial ceremony of the father of Oronto Douglas, the Special Adviser on Research and Documentation to President Jonathan.

Dakolo who is expected to perform at the closing ceremony of the ‘Rivers State Carnival‘ (Caniriv), was meant to fly along with Governor Yakowa, immediate-past National Security Adviser, Andrew Azazi and four others but opted out, deciding to travel by road at the last minute."

Hours after the helicopter crash that took the lives of Kaduna State Governor Patrick Yakowa, a former national security adviser Owoeye Azazi, Timi Dakolo tweeted "God saved me".

"Timi is doing okay, he was meant to fly on that chopper but he didn't  I just got off the phone with him’, said Tony ‘Don T’ Anifite of Now Muzik that manages Timi Dakolo.
