Camp Mulla

Soulful South African singer-songwriter Zahara (@ZaharaSA) and Kenyan hip hop outfit Camp Mulla (@CampMulla) are to will complete the sensational lineup for MTV Africa All Stars KwaZulu-Natal with Snoop Lion.

Staged jointly by MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) and KwaZulu-Natal Province, MTV Africa All Stars KwaZulu-Natal with Snoop Lion takes place at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium, People’s Park, on 18 May 2013.

AfroSoul singer, poet and guitarist Zahara burst onto the South African music scene in 2011, winning scores of accolades and awards for her soulful style and powerful vocals that evoke comparisons with international superstars, Miriam Makeba, Brenda Fassie, Tracy Chapman and Asa.  Zahara’s debut album "Loliwe" was released in 2011 with the first issue famously selling out within 72 hours and reaching double platinum status 19 days later in South Africa. Performing in Isixhosa and English, Zahara’s repertoire features spiritually uplifting ballads balanced beautifully by her own acoustic guitar playing.
A seamless blend of Kenyan infused hip hop and R&B is the signature sound of Nairobi based Camp Mulla.  The award-winning crew, comprising rapper Taio Tripper, K’Cous (producer) and hype man, Mykie Toni, combine hard hitting jams with funky grooves and velvety smooth vocals. The group’s 2012 album Funky Town” and hit singles “Party Don’t Stop” and “Fresh All Day” showcase their highly individual musical style, which they have dubbed the “2-5-Flow” or “254Low” (pronounced “two five flow”), a play on Kenya’s international dialing code.
