MTV and Katy Perry today announced that the megastar hitmaker will perform her newly released single “Roar” live for the very first time during the 2013 “MTV Video Music Awards”. 

No stranger to the VMAs stage, Perry has won four MTV Video Music Awards, including the highly-coveted, “Video of the Year” for her #1 worldwide smash-hit, “Firework”, and performed her hit “I Kissed a Girl” at the 2008 show as well as a stellar cover of Queen’s rock anthem “We Will Rock You” with Aerosmith’s Joe Perry in 2009. 

Perry has become a VMA fan favourite and is set to thrill fans once again as she delivers the world premiere performance of her new single, “Roar” from her forthcoming album, PRISM set for release on Tuesday 22 October.

Taking place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center at 26 August, the MTV “Video Music Awards“ will broadcast live across Africa on MTV (DStv Channel 130) at 03:00 CAT on Monday 26 August, with the primetime premiere later the same night at 20.30 CAT.  The show subsequently premieres on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) at 16:00 CAT on Tuesday 27 August.
