One Mic UK returns for a second Afrobeats Special edition, featuring explosive performances from some of the hottest Afrobeats artists of the year. Following the massive success of the first Afrobeats Special in July 2013, this second edition comes to the prestigious Jazz Café in London on Sunday 17th November. Sponsored by DLA UK and hosted byChoice FM’s DJ Abrantee, this event will be a night not to be missed and promises to be even bigger and better that the last!

Afrobeats music has grown rapidly over the past 12 months, not only in the UK, but globally too. From receiving huge airplay across major radio stations such as Capital FMKiss FM and BBC Radio 1 to being watched by millions onYoutube and MTV to being represented at big Summer festivals like the Wireless Festival and BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekender, Afrobeats music continues to prove that it is capable of producing real stars with global appeal.

Gracing the stage will be the Queen of Afrobeats herself, May7ven. Her recent collaborations with US rapper Chingy andX-Factor winner Alexandra Burke have been met with rave reviews, while she continues to garner support from tastemakers such as MTV UKMOBO Awards and Capital Xtra. Also on the bill is award-winning Afrobeats producerSilvastone. Having worked with Rita OraD’Banj and Estelle to name a few, his recent remix of Mark Morrison’s “I Am What I Am” is one of the biggest Afrobeats songs of the year.

DRB LasGidi infuse their Afrobeats sound with glorious R&B and Hip Hop flavours and have been featured on international publications such as MTV Iggy and Bella Naija. Their latest offering, “Show Me” is a great example of just why this charismatic threesome are popular with both UK and African audiences. Also taking to the stage is AfroPop princess Ezi Emela. A versatile performer, her catchy lead singles “Catch My Heart” “Secret Lover” have collectively received over 300,000 views on YouTube.

Joining them will be British Ghanaian artist Mista Silva. Currently one of the biggest names on the UK Afrobeats scene; his latest single “Now Wat’s Up?” has received over 111,000 plays on Youtube and has also been playlisted by BBC Radio 1Xtra and Capital Xtra. Also on stage will be Tipsy; having made waves at this year’s Notting Hill Carnival, she is becoming recognised for her inventive dance moves and energetic stage performances.  Her 2013 singles “Tin Geh Geh” and “Your Love” are both big hits on the underground club circuit.

Pop crooner Yemi Rush will appear alongside emerging Afro-Rap star Kida Kudz. Their gritty track “Fear Nobody” was hailed by several online tastemakers with both artists tipped for big things. Introducing 16-year old fresh-faced rising Pop star Zafi B who brings a welcomed R&B twist to her sound and is ready to make her mark on UK Afrobeats. Her debut single “Number One” is currently on rotation on Capital Xtra.

Fast-rising duo YFS have together been dubbed the ‘Crowned Princes of Afrobeats’ with new singles “Baddo” and“Tonto” causing a massive stir online after trending on Twitter. This young twosome will bring their particular blend of heavy bassline Afro-Rap to the One Mic UK stage. Completing this amazing line-up are UK Afrobeats veteran Dola Billzwho you will remember from classic hit singles such as “Puyanga” and “Jeun Lo” and hugely popular fast-rising duo Flava & Kwamz.
